For balance consider decorative wall brackets
You know the rules, paintings, mirrors and other decorative arrangements need to be balanced. That means placed as a group to be centered. But did you know that your grouping doesn't have to begin centered? You could off-set a large clock so that it is to the right or left of center. Use ornate wall plaques or antique shelves and flowers to center the grouping over a larger area. Instead of having one small thing in the middle of your walls or hallway you will have a large grouping that covers an entire area. This creates symmetry. If you want to utilize this look, you have to have all of the tools. That includes a medium sized painting or mirror, shelving and decorative wall brackets. Once you have these basics, fill in the blanks with candlesticks, floral arrangements or carvings. Remember to place decorative table lamps near the wall to illuminate your beautiful decorations.
Ornate wall plaques build character
When you are decorating your home, the main rule to live by is "don't over-decorate". It is tempting when you're doing it yourself to want to add all of your favorite things. However, doing this could create a cluttered look instead of fluid beauty. To avoid the problem, choose a theme either for the whole house or for each room. If antiques are your thing and you have a small space, ornate wall plaques that are cast or inspired from 17th or 18th century panels are a great idea. They provide a stately, vintage look without the heaviness of darkly paneled walls or heavy brocade tapestries. Decorative wall brackets paired up with antique mirrors are another great idea. If you have a larger space, you could add tapestries on one side and one of our large antique mirrors on the opposite. Mirrors expand and add depth to any size space!
